Grocery shopping. The bane of my existence. It is so hard to get everything we need, make it healthy(ish), and try not to spend an Ivy League tuition at Publix every two weeks. But I do my best.
I try try try to have Maple and Brown sugar steel cut oats for my Hubby. And I try try try to always have 40,000 bananas for the baby. Oh, and don't forget the Greek yogurt in ONLY vanilla flavor for the kindergartener. Whew.... It is a lot of work loving this family!!
Which is why I get irate when they decide they all.of.a.sudden do not like something. Is it just me or are can children's taste buds change on a dime????? Yesterday, and in fact, for the last 6 months of your life, you have eaten scrambled eggs. Yesterday, YESTERDAY you begged me to make them for you. So why WHYYYYY????????? this morning when I need to scoot out the door for a dentist appointment did you throw ALL your eggs on the floor and refuse to eat them???????????????
Why, after slaving in the kitchen making spaghetti for everyone BECAUSE YOU EAT IT ALL THE TIME AND LOVE IT, did you shake your head, turn up your nose, and say "But I don't like spaghetti"??????????/ Ummm, you mean you do not like spaghetti since last Tuesday????????? WTHeck
What am I supposed to do with the 13,000 boxes of spaghetti I have stocked up in the pantry? What chemical change actually occurred in your brain to make you UNlike spaghetti? You do realize I just purchased two bunches of organic bananas JUST FOR YOU. Is there a chromosome in kids that makes them like something for 6 months and then all of a sudden (perhaps even mid-meal) find it repulsive? Maybe it is the "Things that make my mom wanna hide in the closet and cry" gene.
I do not care when it is something "weird" like asparagus. But I want to throw the plate through a window when it is something like strawberries. I mean, kids, there are a few things that EVERY kid is supposed to like. We moms have to have a few guarantees in this parenting thing. Just one!!!!! So when you do not like grapes, we go nuts. Bananas even.
